Our Story
The Churcher Group was founded by Krystal Churcher with a clear purpose: to support child care operators in navigating one of the most complex and demanding sectors with confidence.
With years of hands-on experience in early learning and child care, Krystal understands the realities behind the policies, the pressure behind compliance, and the challenges of building sustainable programs.
What began as direct support for individual operators has grown into a trusted consulting practice supporting organizations across Alberta — from new centre development and licensing to funding strategy and operational growth.
At the core of the work is a simple belief: child care operators deserve clear guidance, honest support, and solutions that actually work in real life.
Krystal Churcher
Founder & Lead Consultant
Krystal Churcher is the founder of The Churcher Group and a recognized leader, advocate, and entrepreneur in Alberta’s child care sector. Her work is grounded in years of hands-on experience, deep sector knowledge, and a clear understanding of the operational pressures child care operators face every day.
She works closely with operators, directors, nonprofit boards, and sector leaders, supporting them through licensing, funding, compliance, policy, staffing, and long-term growth planning. Her approach is practical, direct, and rooted in what actually works on the ground.
Krystal is known for helping child care organizations move through complexity with clarity. Whether supporting a new centre, advising an established operator, or leading training for directors and teams, she focuses on realistic solutions that strengthen programs, improve operations, and support sustainable growth.
In addition to her consulting work, Krystal contributes to sector-wide conversations through advocacy, workshops, speaking engagements, and the Childcare Operation Summit. She brings together operators, experts, and community partners to create practical learning opportunities and stronger support systems for Alberta’s child care sector.
Elena Murashova
Administration Director
Elena plays a central role in the day-to-day operations and client experience at The Churcher Group, overseeing internal processes, project coordination, and the development of client-facing materials.
With a background in teaching in Russia and early childhood education in Canada, Elena brings a grounded understanding of classroom realities, team dynamics, and program delivery. Her practical experience helps ensure that the work is not only strategic, but also realistic and applicable in real centres.
Elena’s multidisciplinary background — including editorial design and creative direction — shapes how The Churcher Group communicates its work. She creates proposals, presentations, workshop materials, and digital content, ensuring that complex information is clear, structured, and accessible for operators and leadership teams.
She also leads the creation of curriculum-related resources, training concepts, event structures, and conference ideas — helping turn early-stage concepts into well-structured programs, meaningful client experiences, and polished professional materials.
